If you want to clear out high-tier Arc units without tearing through all your primary weapon ammo, you need to look into the Trailblazer Grenade. This isn't your standard point-and-click explosive. The Trailblazer is a specialized PvE utility that lays down a distinct line of flammable green gas right along its flight path. A second later, that trail ignites in a cascading chain explosion that travels backwards, completely melting anything caught in its footprint.
Whether you are trying to break through tough robotic armor or looking for a reliable way to lock down tight chokepoints, getting your hands on this gadget will completely change your tactical layout. Here is a direct breakdown of how to acquire it and how to leverage its unique explosive delay in the field.
How to Get the Trailblazer
Depending on your current resource pile and how deep you are into the game, you have three clear pathways to get Trailblazers: buying them outright, pushing through seasonal progression, or hunting down the permanent blueprint to craft them on demand.
1. Buying Directly from Apollo
If you have the currency to burn and don’t want to mess around with random drop rates, you can buy them directly back at base. The vendor Apollo stocks them regularly for 4,800 coins apiece. The catch here is that his stock is capped daily, so you can't completely rely on him to supply your entire inventory if you're running heavy explosive setups match after match. It is a solid option for padding your loadout before a high-stakes run.
2. Event Rewards via Stella Montis Merit
Keep an eye on your active battle pass progression. Advancing through the Stella Montis Merit track hands out a few free Trailblazer grenades at specific levels. It won't give you an infinite supply, but it’s a nice passive bonus to grab while you are out completing standard objectives anyway.
3. Blueprint Farming & Crafting (Night Raids Only)
To truly unlock the power of the Trailblazer, you need to find its permanent blueprint. This allows you to build as many as you need at your base stations. Be warned: this blueprint is a strict Night Raid exclusive drop on the Stella Montis map.
When the sun goes down, you want to focus your attention on checking containers, desks, and luggage within these specific high-value hot spots:
  • Loading Bay: Systematically check the built-in container drawers and any green metal drawers resting directly on top of or inside the Conex cargo containers.
  • Locker Room: Located right near the main loading bay area. Look for a small, secure locker room blocked off by two separate breachable doors. Pop those open and search inside.
  • Train Station / Business Center: Head over to the main lounge areas. You are looking specifically for blue suitcases left sitting around on the floor or tossed onto the couches.
  • Blue Gate Tunnels: A dangerous area but highly rewarding. Scour the security lockers, check the reception lobby counters situated right below the zip lines, and clear out everything hidden behind the breachable security zone doors.

Crafting Recipe (Explosives Station 3)Once you extract successfully with the blueprint, head to your tier 3 Explosives Station. Each craft requires the following materials:
  • 1x Synthesized Fuel: Head directly to the Metro Admin building on Stella Montis for a guaranteed spawn right next to the metro lobby desk, or salvage it out of Rocket Thrusters.
  • 1x Explosive Compound / Crude Explosives: Easily sourced by searching standard technical boxes across any top-side map, or processed manually at the refiner workshop.
  • 1x Firefly Burner: Dropped explicitly by hunting down and destroying the aggressive Firefly AI units patrolling the surface zones.

How to Use the Trailblazer Effectively
The biggest rookie mistake you can make with the Trailblazer is treating it like a standard frag grenade. Because of the way the gas trail deploys and ignites, you have to be deliberate with your spacing and positioning. It is fundamentally engineered as an Arc-shredding PvE powerhouse rather than a reliable PvP anti-personnel weapon.
Concentrate the Gas Trail
Don't hurl this across an open field from extreme ranges. To maximize damage, get right up into the medium-to-close range of a massive, lumbering Arc unit like a Bombardier or a Bastion. Toss the grenade directly underneath their massive frames. This ensures the entire path of the flammable green gas settles directly under their hitbox, forcing them to take every single tick of the sequential chain explosions.
The Leaper One-Shot Strategy
Fast-moving threats like Leapers or Shredders will easily dance out of the gas path if you throw it carelessly. Instead, bait them into narrow hallways, tight indoor rooms, or structural chokepoints. Once they are boxed in, throw the Trailblazer straight at their feet and instantly follow up with a few bursts from an Anvil weapon. The combo will break their stance and instantly drop them.
Mind the Back Blast
Always remember that the ignition sequence travels backwards along the exact line you threw. If you pull the trigger while standing directly at the start of your own gas trail, the trailing explosion will catch you in the blast radius. Make it a habit to throw, track the trajectory, and immediately reposition or dodge to the side to stay clear of your own splash zone.
Avoid Open-Area PvP Battles
If you attempt to use this against human players in wide-open corridors or fields, you're going to have a bad time. Competent players will instantly notice the green trail and simply sprint sideways out of the straight line, leaving you with zero damage output. If you absolutely must use it in a PvP engagement, save it for forcing squads out of enclosed bunker rooms or narrow stairwells where they literally have no room to evade the blast.
