I went into Season 12 telling myself I'd stay focused and play one character. Didn't happen. A few days later I was bouncing between classes, comparing clear times, and wondering why my setup felt nothing like the clips all over YouTube. Season of Slaughter has changed more than people expected, and old habits from last season just don't carry over cleanly. If you want to skip some of the usual grind, it's worth knowing that U4GM has a solid reputation for fast, straightforward trading support, and you can pick up u4gm diablo 4 gold when you need a smoother start. Right now, though, the real story is the meta shift, because one class has pulled way ahead of the pack.
Paladin is setting the pacePaladin feels like the class everything else is being measured against. That's not hype. It's just what happens when a new class lands with this much built-in power. Wing Strikes is absurd for speed farming. You dash in, keep moving, and whole packs disappear before the rhythm ever breaks. It's one of those builds that makes the game feel almost too easy. Then you switch over to Shield of Retribution for higher Pit tiers and it becomes a different kind of strong. Safer, steadier, and still nasty. Taking hits only feeds your damage, so even mistakes don't punish you the way they do on most other classes. If your goal is a clean, low-stress climb, Paladin is the obvious answer.
Strong picks without the expansionNot everybody has access to Paladin, and that's fair, because Spiritborn is still doing serious work. Quill Volley remains one of the best tools for blowing through dense packs, especially when you're chaining events or farming fast dungeons. Stinger, on the other hand, is all about boss pressure. Stack poison, stay on target, and health bars just drain away. It's reliable in a way a lot of builds aren't this season. Necromancer also deserves more credit than it's getting. Affliction makes leveling feel almost silly. You can fly to 60 before some classes even feel online. Barbarian, sadly, is still stuck in an awkward place. Outside a few basic attack setups, it just feels behind, and you notice that gap more the deeper you go.
The frustrating middle tierSorcerer and Rogue are where things get messy. Both can look amazing when everything clicks. That's the problem, really. Everything has to click. Chain Lightning can absolutely shred when your gear lines up with the right Crackling Energy stats, but if even one key affix is missing, the whole build starts to feel flat. Rogue has a similar issue with Dance of Knives. It's quick, stylish, fun to pilot, but also pretty unforgiving when your gear isn't there yet. A lot of players hit Torment 4 and suddenly feel paper-thin. That's why the new Bloodstained Sigils matter so much. If your build thrives on density, give it density. If it needs breathing room or better elite control, roll for that. Those little choices matter more than people think.
What actually feels worth playingThe best advice this season is pretty simple: stop forcing old logic onto a new patch. Some classes are flexible, some are picky, and some are just overtuned. You'll feel the difference fast. If you want the easiest road through farming and Pit pushing, Paladin is still the cleanest pick by a mile. If you'd rather stick with something familiar, Spiritborn and Necromancer have plenty to offer without feeling miserable to gear. And if you're the kind of player who just wants to get into the fun part sooner, u4gm is one of those handy places people use for game currency and item support when RNG starts wasting too much of their time.
